Inbound Links – Where To Get High Quality Back Links For Your Website
Dec 24th
Inbound links are unarguably the number one way to get your site boosted up the search engine results. Aside from on-page SEO, this is the second most important thing you must do to get your page to rank well in search engines.
All links, however, are not created equal. One way links from sites that the search engines consider to be quality, trusted websites will carry much more weight than ones from newly created or lower authority sites. It only stand to reason then that you should be striving for connections with the best sites. High PR links are not easily obtained which is why they are so valuable.
There are ways though, that you can get large numbers of backlinks with no cost involved. Yes, there will be a time investment on your part, but building links is a time investment that produces results.
Where do you find High PR links? There are three places to start. The first, and easiest is on Web Directories. Yes, they are still effective from an SEO standpoint. The key is to find the directories that the search engines like. How do we know which ones they are? All you have to do is look at their page ranks for clues.
Obviously, the higher the page rank, the more benefit it will be to your website. A convenient place to start is from a list of directories that someone else has put together for you with the PR indicated. That way the bulk of the investigative research is already done for you. All you have to do then is start submitting your links. I highly suggest you do this manually and not use an automated software. You will have much better luck getting them accepted doing it manually.
Another source for getting easy inbound links is from forums and user groups. This also requires a significant time investment, but the payoff is well worth the time spent. The key is to find a well respected forum within your niche that already has a high page rank. You can either pay for lists or you can be lucky and find someone who will provide this list for you.
Another way to gain High PR backlinks is to leave comments on blogs. This one is a bit more work and a little trickier to get the links approved, but you can reap the benefits of an active blog and it’s authority status.
The main thing when it comes to placing links is to be original with each one. Do not place the same wording everywhere as this does not look natural to the search engines. Another key to success is when placing blog comments, make it very relevant to the post you are commenting on. Refer to something specific within the post so the blog owner knows it was not a spam comment and that you actually did visit the post.
It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to spend time setting up generic comments in an automated comments software because they very rarely ever get approved so you are wasting time that could have been used gaining more valuable links.

Business Online – The History of Links
Dec 23rd
Links are the life blood of the Internet; hey allow you to travel to and fro with a simple click of your mouse. The history behind links is a fascinating one. On a very simple level, the power of links on the Web can be found in the answer to this question: “What was the name of the popular search engine before it was called Google?”
Before you find out, let me say that the answer is related to the history of links. How so?
Well, according to the book “Google Story” by David Vise, Google’s founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin wanted to come up with a revolutionary search engine. What they discovered was that the Web was all about links.
That is, Page had this theory that if you counted the number of links a particular website had pointing back to it, you could get a good idea of its popularity.
Popularity is one form of measuring “relevancy.” Counting the number of links that point back to your site, you could measure your site’s popularity.
Links are a form of citation. Both Page and Brin grew up with parents who valued scientific research and academic journals and publications that had their own form of citations. “It turns out, people who win the Nobel Prize have citations from 10,000 different papers,” Page says. Citations in the academic world mean your work is important because it is worth being cited.
Likewise, the more often a website is cited with a link pointing back to it, the higher score Google gives it. Sites with the most “back links” get the highest rankings.
However, not all back links are created equal. The search engine founders discovered that greater weight should be given to links coming from so-called “important sites.” Which ones are the important sites? The ones with the most links pointing back to them.
Therefore, the number of links pointing to a site is important. If those links are coming from important sites that also have a lot of links pointing to them, that adds value.
Now, we come to the answer to the question, “What was the name of the popular search engine before it was called Google?”
The primitive, pre-Google search engine was called “Back Rub.” Why? Because “it dealt with the incoming – or ‘back’ – links to Web pages.”
To quote radio personality Paul Harvey, “Now you know the rest of the story.”
