Understanding Search Engine Optimization
Jul 12th

Search engine optimization has long been a term marketers like to use to describe getting more traffic from Google and other search engines. However it isn’t about how you organize your site or how you get links from others, but it is a combined effect of working your sites words around topics that people care about, getting accurate reviews, links and of course making your site more search engine friendly.
Some of the worst looking sites in the world often end up on the top of Google and other search engines simply because they look into what people are searching for on Google. The reason is simple – they find the best words using a tool called Google Trends to find subjects that are similar to what they are offering. By using Google Trends they can search through all of the keywords that they could use inside the site and make a decision to use specific ones that will generate more traffic.
Those keywords are placed into specific text patterns so that they use the same words multiple times throughout the site in either paragraphs, marketing ploys or other areas. That combined with the effective use of link trading, and multiple link postings on popular forums, blogs and sites like Myspace and Facebook will lead Google to believe the site is more popular than it really is.
Another practice is to use multiple Youtube accounts to post or reply their site URLs into popular or highly viewed videos. This trick, provided they don’t get caught, will make Google believe that their site is important to a very popular website (thus fooling pagerank).
On top of all that these sites also use things like common keyword recognition, robot files, site maps and other tools to make them more popular and more appealing to Google. Sites with PDFs or a large amount of flash don’t normally get scanned properly, thus they are less popular with Google. Avoiding those things will ensure further success in generating a higher ranking and increased popularity.

Give Away Your Content for Backlinks
Jul 12th

Acquiring backlinks for your website is probably one of most difficult process of SEO. Lets face it, nobody wants to give you anything without something in return and the days of friendly link exchanges are long gone. Sure you can still fire up that WebCEO and attempt a link exchange partnership campaign. Most of your automated emails probably won’t go through and the 2% that does will fly straight into the spam box.
One SEO concept that has stood the test of time is that content is still king! Everybody wants content and they are way too lazy to write it themselves, so heck lets just give it to them. Here’s how you do it and achieve some nifty backlinks in the process.
First off, make sure you post your content on your website and make sure Google has successfully cached it. You want credit for your content before you start handing it out to the public. Make sure you have links in your content pointing back to your site as some automatic content scrapers will leave these links intact.
The next thing we need to do is identify people who are looking for “borrowed” content. The way to do this is to visit your friendly article directory website, Ezine will work fine. Search for articles that are closely related to your site as this will help maintain finding relevant websites. Once you have identified a article related to your site, copy and paste a portion of text into Google.
There’s a good chance that article is floating elsewhere in cyberspace. You’ll probably end up finding that article in different article directories but we want to ignore these results. Instead look for content heavy sites where this article is appearing at. Chances are these websites have a lot of “borrowed” content and are dying for more. Go through the website thoroughly and make sure they are a good match for your website. Look at a few articles and if you see a lot of outbound links still intact than this is a good sign. Start making a list of these sites in Excel with a copy of the webmaster’s email address.
Once you’ve established a good list email these people with a copy of your content but make sure your links are still attached. You’ll want to approach them casually and state something along the lines that you have an article that their visitors might be interested. Whether or not you want to directly ask them to leave your links intact is completely up to you. Now every time you write new content on your website and its cached by Google, keep sending these people your content. It’s also important that you keep expanding your list of related websites so you can spread your content around more thus acquiring more links.
Lastly, make sure you check these websites often and see if they are posting your content. If they are posting your content without a link try emailing them your next content piece with a reminder to leave the links to your website in placed. If they do not comply with your request then take them off your list. I have used this method for a very long time and I’ve been very successful acquiring hundreds of links. It’s a little slow at first but once you start building your list you’ll be amazed at how fast you can get backlinks to your site, and the beauty of it all is you control the anchors on the content. I know this task can be quite tedious which is why I usually outsource it. So get to it, write that content and get those links.
