Why Internet Marketing Strategies Are Better Than Offline Marketing
Apr 22nd
Internet business and off line business owners are finding Internet marketing is the most cost effective way to advertise a product. Here are a few thoughts on Internet marketing tactics and how to use them to promote your business.
1. In the old days products were promoted primarily through off line methods such as yellow pages or newspaper. In some markets this is still effective. You find this to be more true in rural areas where people still rely on the newspaper and Yellow Pages for local business products they need.
However even businesses in rural areas are turning to the Internet as a way to be found. The reason for this very simply is customers go online and search targeted keyword phrases.
2. This is a big key when you are putting together your Internet marketing tactics that you want to promote. Developing a very lengthy keyword list that you want to rank high for will make a difference in being found or not.
You should also be focusing on long tail keyword phrases because people enter numerous words. For example if you have a home business that targets the keyword phrase “earn money online” you will see this is a very competitive phrase.
You have a better chance to rank higher for a phrase such as “make money working on the Internet with the computer”. This long tail phrase is being searched by people who know what they are looking for and you have an chance to be there for them.
3. Focus on getting back links which can give you long term traffic. You can never do this with off line marketing, but with online marketing you can continue to benefit from your advertising long if you do it.
Another thing is when working on back links you can utilize many free traffic generation methods which will not cost you anything other than your time to create them. Article marketing with a resource box is a very good way to do this. So is blog writing and submitting to social directory sites.
4. Internet marketing tactics allow you to be more fluid in your marketing. Yellow Pages is a good example of a stagnant ad that you can not change anytime you want.
You want to be able to adapt your marketing to what is popular right now because things change so quickly online. Creating videos and running them on You Tube is a really good example of this. People are searching more via video and this type of marketing is something you could not do off line.
In summary Internet marketing tactics will continue to beat off line marketing because people use the Internet to search for things they need. This gives you the opportunity to be the one they are finding.
Get Off Your Internet Marketing High Horse And Generate Results!

You know what’s interesting? There are so many of these internet marketing gurus and experts out there bragging about how much money they are making online on the internet. Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with making an obscene amount of money on the internet.
However, sometimes having lots of success on the internet can cause you to have tunnel vision and cause you to miss the big picture.
The internet is simply ONE vehicle out there that you can use to market your products or services. It is a very powerful vehicle, absolutely. However, it’s certainly not the only game in town.
Smart marketers out there are realizing this and are saying to themselves “Wow if I could make all of this money on the internet, imagine how much money I could make if I combine offline marketing techniques with online marketing techniques?
You would be surprised at what you might find if you get off your internet marketing high horse and start investigating other techniques that can be used to market your business.
So many people argue that internet marketing is the best way to market your business because many of the strategies on the internet are either free or cost very little money compared to offline marketing techniques. That may in fact be true. However, if the name of the game is to make as much money as possible why would you limit yourself to just one technique?
Case in point.
Let’s say you set up a pay per click advertising campaign on Google AdWords. As a result of the testing and tracking of different keywords and phrases, you discover several keywords that are turning a profit for you. Let’s say you find some keywords that you can pay 30 cents a click and you are able to produce a 2% conversion ratio for a $97 product.
100 clicks at 30 cents a click comes to a total of $30. 2% of 100 works out to 2 sales. $97 times 2 sales equals $194. So you spend $30 to make $194? That’s over a 600% return on your investment. A very good return if you ask me.
However, what if by doing a little bit of testing and tracking, you could find a magazine that caters to the target market that you are marketing to. Let’s say it cost you $200 to place an ad in this magazine. That $200 also gets you 100 visitors to your web site. However, instead of getting a 2% conversion ratio, the magazine ad gets you an 8% conversion ratio?
You now will spend $200. 8% of 100 equals 8 sales. 8 sales at $97 a sale works out to $776. So you spend $200 to make $776?
Which would you do, the Google AdWords ad or the magazine ad?
Most people would say they would do the Google AdWords ad. You know what I say? I say I would do both! The magazine ad is still generating a significant profit for me. It might not be as much percentage wise as the Google AdWords ad, but profit is profit in my opinion, I could care less where it’s coming from.
So get off your internet marketing high horse and start testing out some offline marketing techniques. You just might be amazed at what you might discover.
SEO for Newbies – Don’t Let Search Engine Optimization Beat You!
Jan 28th
Three simple little letters, SEO. They have been known to make grown men cry! They have been known to make a perfectly logical woman turn into a babbly, procrastinating dweeb! How about extending those letters into their true meaning – Search Engine Optimization! It doesn’t make it any better does it? I was a perfectly logical woman who turned into the babbling, procrastinating dweeb! If SEO is making you cry, or turning you into a dweeb, don’t worry. It’s really not that hard! I am back to being my normal logical self and I have my 4 websites optimized and they are sitting happily on the first page of Google for a lot of keywords and phrases. Some are constantly No: 1, some fluctuate and some sit between 2 and 8. Woo hooo! Now it’s Easy SEO Let me give you a brief rundown on my venture into the world of SEO.
One of my sites in particular had a dismal search engine ranking in a very competitive field. Two others were nearly as dismal, but not so competitive. Another wasn’t quite so dismal (because it was rather niche) so I decided to tackle that one first. I started my crusade with my usual positive attitude and logical approach. I painstakingly searched and searched to find the SEO secret. I hit brick wall after brick wall. I found the same useless and misleading information time and time again. I became frustrated! Why was informative SEO information such a big secret? Why wasn’t I able to find relevant and helpful information to help me with search engine optimization. I tried using the information that I found, only to find that the majority of it was useless. But how was I supposed to know that? I had to try? This is when I when I entered the babbling phase.
I babbled along, trying this, and trying that, and getting nowhere! All I wanted to do was optimize my website. Enter Di, the procrastinator! I had tried so many SEO tactics, only to find them totally useless, that at this stage I began talking to myself. Hmmmm. I had lost all of my enthusiasm and I needed to have discussions with myself over every new “method” I came across. Should I try it? Will it be another waste of time? Maybe this will work? Nah, don’t be a sucker! Obviously, I had lost it!!! Does all of this sound familiar? Well, let me tell you something. I finally regained my sanity and decided I was going to tackle this SEO monster head on! And I did!
It’s all in the content! To put the whole thing simply – You need to give the search engines what they are looking for. The whole idea of the Internet is to provide relevant information to people who are searching for it. There are always website owners out there “trying to beat the system” by using “unethical techniques” to generate traffic to their site, however, search engines are becoming more and more sophisticated and penalize anyone found using what is called “black hat” tactics. You need quality, original information on your site. You need this original information, linked to keywords and phrases, page titles, page names etc to give you good quality pages. You need to optimize your content with quality information, strategically making use of your keywords and phrases in the text. Gone are the days of “multiple similar pages” and “hiding keywords in text”. You need to “white hat” your site, and give the search engines exactly what they want, and you will be rewarded by receiving better rankings.
Let me expand on this a little. All search engines have “robots” or “spiders” that crawl websites to collect data that is then parsed (separate into more easily processed components, ie sorts out keywords, phrases etc) then stored in a database that is queried when a search is requested by someone using the internet on that particular search engine. Think of it as a huge database that contains “specific and relevant” information about the content of almost every website.
So when someone searches for “purple socks”, the pages the robots have searched that have content regarding “purple socks” will be shown in a list of results, according to relevance. The more relevant the content of the page is to “purple socks”, the higher the page will be shown in the search result. This is why your keywords, titles and content optimization are the most important aspects of search engine optimization. I am presuming that most of you know what keywords are. For those of you who don’t, keywords are words or phrases that accurately describe your website. They are also the words or phrases that people are likely to use when searching to find your website.
In the early days of the Internet, it was a relatively simple task of quickly popping a few keywords into your meta tags and that was it. These days, it’s a totally different story. The internet is growing so rapidly and there are so many people out there who are selling similar products/services to you, and you need to think “outside the square” and be innovative in your approach to keywords and managing your SEO strategy. You don’t have to pay SEO Companies obscene amounts of money (usually with no guarantee unless you also agree to fund an unlimited AdWords campaign).
You don’t need to agonize over “which tactic will I try next”. You don’t need to use PPC (pay per click) advertising. All you need to do is take the time to optimize your website so that it gives the search engines what they want. Relevant content! So, even if you’ve been reduced to tears, or even if you’ve turned into a babbling, procrastinating dweeb, don’t throw the towel in and pay a huge amount of money for something you can do yourself. Tackle Search Engine Optimization head on! I did, and I won. You can do it too!
